Founded by twin brothers Takaya and Fumito Matsuda, HERALBONY is a creative agency that connects artists with disabilities with companies and institutions. Through exceptional art, we change the perception of “disability”.
HERALBONY has obtained the international certification B Corporation™ (B Corp), which is awarded to companies committed to creating a positive impact on society and the environment.
B Corp Overview
B Corp is an international certification administered by the U.S.-based nonprofit B Lab and is awarded to companies that practice balancing profit with social and environmental value.
The certification requires transparency, accountability, and a high level of social impact across five areas: governance, workers, environment, community, and customers. It is known for its rigorous standards. Certification is not a one-time achievement — companies undergo a strict reassessment every three years. To maintain certification, companies must demonstrate continuous improvement and uphold a high level of social responsibility.
As of the end of July 2025, more than 10,000 companies in over 102 countries have achieved B Corp certification, including globally influential brands such as Patagonia and Ben & Jerry’s.
Evaluation of HERALBONY in This Certification
After more than three years of screening and evaluation, HERALBONY surpassed the required certification score of 80 points (out of 200) and ultimately achieved a final score of 100.5 points. The scores in each category are as follows:
Community: 28.7
Workers: 34.0
Customers: 13.8
Governance: 10.7
Environment: 13.0
In this assessment, the area that received particularly high recognition was the “Community” category, which evaluates how a company engages with its stakeholders. We believe this evaluation reflects HERALBONY’s consistent commitment since its founding to an “Artist-First” philosophy, as well as the trust we have built with welfare facilities, the families of the artists, and our partner companies who share our values and have walked alongside us.
Building a System That Realizes an “Artist-First” Approach

We have placed great importance on building long-term, trust-based relationships with artists by accompanying them through a dedicated contact system in which every employee — regardless of department or role — communicates directly with artists and partner facilities. For each project, we share the background and intent of the initiative with both the artists and the staff who support them, and proceed only after obtaining consent from the artists, the facilities, and their families.
Rather than imposing one-sided corporate values or assumptions on artists, we continually ask ourselves how their intentions can be communicated accurately and respectfully. We believe that ongoing creativity, reflection, and practice are essential to maintaining trust. As our business and organization continue to grow, we will remain grounded in its “Artist-First” philosophy and uphold this commitment as an unwavering guiding principle.
Future Initiatives in the Environmental Sector
At the same time, in the area of the environment, the certification process provided an opportunity to reaffirm the challenges we still face.
Since its founding, HERALBONY has maintained a strong awareness of the importance of sustainable manufacturing. In June 2024, the company published its Responsible Manufacturing Declaration and has been steadily taking steps forward.

Looking ahead, HERALBONY will continue working to reduce environmental impact across every stage of delivering products to customers. By collaborating with all stakeholders — including those involved in raw material sourcing, manufacturing, and logistics — the company will strive to build even more ethical and sustainable partnerships.
Message from Michiho Miyashita, Community Engagement Lead, B Market Builder Japan

“We are truly delighted to welcome HERALBONY as a member of the B Corp community. During the assessment, HERALBONY was recognized for its outstanding business model, in which business growth is directly linked to transforming buyers’ perceptions of disability and increasing artists’ income — creating meaningful, positive impact for society.
Together with HERALBONY, which operates a business that shifts artists with disabilities from being viewed as recipients of support to being recognized as equal artists, we look forward to moving forward in solidarity with the global B Corp community toward the realization of an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy.”
Message from HERALBONY Co-CEOs Takaya Matsuda and Fumito Matsuda

“HERALBONY began with a desire to bring the extraordinary talents of artists with disabilities into the brightest spotlight on the global stage. We take it as a profound honor that our core philosophy — being “Creator First” — has been recognized under the B Corp standards, often regarded as among the most rigorous in the world.
HERALBONY would not be where it is today without the support of welfare facilities, the families of the artists, our partner companies who walk alongside us, and each and every one of our customers. This certification is a reflection of the trust we have built together over the past seven years.
We see this certification not as a goal, but as a starting point. As we look ahead to recertification in three years, we will continue to question every decision and action we take: who is this for?
Toward a society where business can generate not only profit, but also pride and dignity.
Together with the artists and our partners, we will keep building that future.”
